After sell-out seasons across the world, including London’s West End and Broadway, a monster hit stage adaptation of The Gruffalo is coming to Geelong Performing Arts Centre in the April school holidays.
A CDP and Tall Stories production based on the award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, The Gruffalo is set to thrill young theatre goers with songs, laughs and scary fun aimed at children aged 3-plus and their grown-ups.
In this magical, musical adaptation The Gruffalo follows Mouse into the deep dark wood on the hunt for hazelnuts. Armed with just a nut map and a very vivid imagination, Mouse runs into the smirking, wheeler-dealer Fox; an eccentric, retired Woodland Air Force General Owl; and the maraca-shaking, party animal Snake.
Rather than becoming the main course of their next meal, Mouse kills their appetites with stories of an imaginary monster friend. But what happens when Mouse welcomes face to face with the very creature she imagined?
Winner of the Sydney Theatre Award Best Production for Children (2015) The Gruffalo is touring Australia with a trio of bright new performers, dazzling sets and costumes.
Part of the Love Central Geelong Family Magic Program, The Gruffalo comes to Geelong for two performances in The Playhouse, on Saturday April 6 at 12 and 2.30pm.
Tickets for all Family Magic shows are $22 each or $20 when booked in groups of four or more. Ticket price includes free creative craft sessions in the foyer immediately following the show.
