Bendigo Bank Family Magic 2008
Bendigo Bank Family Magic - Geelong's most popular children's theatre program - returns with a newly named mascot, and more great shows the whole family will love.
SPARKY the Family Magic dragon will be on hand to lead families on another wondrous adventure in 2008. Sparky was kindly given his monicker by the joint winners of the GPAC ‘Name The Dragon’ competition, Asha Aikman of Pt Lonsdale, 5, and Marcus Willis of Newtown, 6.
GPAC General Manager Jill Smith said Sparky would prove to be a real hit with families during this year’s program.
“Our dragon loves theatre, and loves meeting people even more. Sparky can’t wait to go to all the shows and meet mums, dads, grandparents and kids of all ages.” Ms Smith said.
She added that Family Magic patrons could also expect some amazing theatrical experiences in 2008:
“To provide a thoroughly entertaining experience for families with such a fantastic mix of high quality touring productions is a real thrill for all of us at GPAC, and we’re sure the kids will love the special treats we have in store.”
The 2008
Bendigo Bank Family Magic program begins on Saturday April 19 with
Cosentino, one of the world’s most unique and talented illusionists. The program then continues throughout the year with an exciting mixture of musicals, storytelling, movies and theatre.
In May, there's
The Arrival, a warm and magical experience from the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre; the enchanting
Possum Magic, based on Mem Fox’s beloved story, will delight audiences in June;
Emily Loves to Bounce, a whimsical blend of theatre, illusion, light, music and song comes to life in September; and in October a variety of film and animation will feature in
Little Big Shots International Children’s Film Festival – films made by kids, for kids. The program will wind up in November with Australia’s original classic children’s songwriter,
Peter Combe.
With a year’s worth of shows and activities for the young – and the young at heart – family entertainment really is child’s play at GPAC.
