In a fun-filled finale to the 2008 Bendigo Bank Family Magic program, Peter Combe, the original ‘King of the Kids’ in Australian children’s music, is heading to GPAC!
Peter’s timeless songs have been entertaining children for more than 20 years. Much loved classics such as Spaghetti Bolognaise, Newspaper Mama, Wash Your Face in Orange Juice and Juicy Juicy Green Grass have earned him three Australian Record Industry Awards, as well as seven Gold and two Platinum albums.
Performing sell out shows to audiences that have included adults aged 20-plus who still love the songs they grew up with, Peter's music is living on and being passed to the next generation.
Although Peter Combe’s children’s career began with a six-year stint presenting ‘Music Time’ for BBC Television in London in 1977, it really kicked off with the hugely successful Toffee Apple album and video clip in 1987, which made Peter Australia’s first children’s ‘popstar’.
His music is timeless and many of his earlier works such as Chopsticks, Happy Christmas to You, Mr Spook and Little Groover are as popular at the beginning of the 21st century as they were in the latter part of the 20th.
Peter Combe is the final Bendigo Bank Family Magic show for 2008, capping off another fantastic program specifically designed to entertain and delight young families. This year saw the introduction of the Family Magic mascot, ‘Sparky’ the dragon, who has already become a popular attraction at Family Magic shows.
