Story of a Life well worth telling

Times of My Life, a new play by Tony Sheldon and Toni Lamond, is more than a history of Australian showbiz. It is a candid yet humorous autobiographical story of Lamond’s life in the entertainment world with music, song and dialogue that is honest and inspirational.
The shy little girl with greasepaint coursing through her veins grew into one of the jewels of Australian entertainment, becoming the first woman in the world to host her own television show.
Co-written with her son, Tony Sheldon, this is a personal and touching story. With rich and illuminating archival footage punctuating the show, Lamond’s anecdotes, observations and experiences are testament to her legend of perfect comedy timing. Sheldon and Lamond have crafted a play populated with scenes and people from an extraordinary life.
Through the eyes of the inimitable and legendary Toni Lamond we plot an industry growing from its humble roots – the heady days of Australian television. Born into vaudeville, pioneering Australian stars in music theatre and making her own mark in cabaret is only a part of this remarkable story. As Toni Lamond turns back time, she reveals a gifted, funny and vulnerable artist.
This is courageous theatre with a powerful and uplifting story. It is an opportunity to celebrate 65 years of Australian entertainment in which we meet the main players and share the perspective from one who was there.
