shaken + stirred @ THE BLAKI heats up with Glow
Friday, June 27, 2008
shaken+stirred @ THE BLAKI, GPAC’s winter series of four very different shows, continues in July with another exceptional event to warm your imagination and dazzle your senses.
Following the great success of our first show, The Needle and the Damage Done in June, the series continues with Glow, an illuminating fusion of video and dance by Chunky Move Artistic Director Gideon Obarzanek and interactive software creator Frieder Weiss.
Utilising the latest in interactive video technologies a digital landscape is generated in real time in response to the dancer’s movement. The body’s gestures are extended by and in turn manipulate the video world that surrounds it, rendering no two performances exactly the same.
GPAC General Manager Jill Smith says the shaken+stirred @ THE BLAKI series adds something completely different to an already diverse array of offerings.
“We’re thrilled to present this program of award winning and cutting edge productions to Geelong, and really hope people take the opportunity to sample something unique,” Ms Smith said.
Witness this melding of technology and the human form in the intimate surrounds of the Blakiston Theatre from 3-5 July, with performances at 6pm and 8pm each night. Prepare to get up close and personal with Glow – part of the shaken+stirred @ THE BLAKI series.
shaken+stirred @ THE BLAKI will then continue on 17-19 July with The Pitch, a hilarious satire depicting the trials and tribulations of trying to crack the big time in Hollywood, and then climax with The Burlesque Hour (31 July – 2 August), a tantalising blend of sideshow, striptease and cartoon strip.
