Musical Mornings at the Great Music Hall
Friday, May 23, 2008
The finale of Musical Mornings Season One 2008 promises to be spectacular with A Day at the Great Music Hall, taking us on a welcome journey back to “The Good Ol’ Days” of 1895, with men in white tie and tails and ladies in crinolines.
Join the Gaslight Company - Australia's busiest morning music troupe - for a wonderful day at the Music Hall as they serve up a song & dance storm of parlour favourites in the Ford Theatre at GPAC on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 June at 10.30am.
Musical Mornings Season Two promises even more fantastic entertainment with another lineup of peerless performers and great entertainment.
The season opens in July with Irving Berlin’s most popular musical, Annie Get Your Gun, full of memorable songs including ‘No Business Like Show Business’, ‘Anything You Can Do’ and many more. Martine Halliday’s one-woman show, Judy & Liza, will bring to life all the cherished songs of Hollywood’s most-loved mother-and-daughter duo, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli. Australian David Scheel is regarded internationally as one of the finest solo musical comedy performers in the world, and will perform his worldwide smash, ‘Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player!’ The Sound of Julie Andrews celebrates the talents of one of the world’s most loved musical stars with melodies from My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and more, all sung by Australia’s own Helen Donaldson. In December, the season’s finale will get you in a festive mood with the Radio Rhythm Orchestra’s A Swinging Christmas, a yuletide extravaganza of swing, jazz, big band and traditional favourites.
GPAC general manager Jill Smith said the Musical Mornings program was extremely popular due to the high quality of performers and the comfortable environment of GPAC’s Ford Theatre.
“We search the country to bring the best performers to Geelong and always aim to provide a diverse range of concerts while keeping ticket prices to a minimum. That combination of quality and value seems to really appeal to our daytime audiences,” she said.
Subscriptions for Season Two are now on sale. Bookings are available at the Box Office on 5225 1200 or online at www.gpac.org.au
