GPAC comes alive with the Sound of Julie Andrews

Monday, October 13, 2008
The Ford Theatre at GPAC will come alive with The Sound of Julie Andrews as part of the highly popular Musical Mornings 2008 program.

The Sound of Julie Andrews celebrates the talents of one of the world’s most loved musical stars with melodies from My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and more. The fabulous songs of showbiz greats such as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe and the Sherman Brothers are all there including Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, I Could Have Danced All Night and The Rain in Spain, all sung by Australia’s own Helen Donaldson.

Helen is best known as the star of Essgee Melodies productions of The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and HMS Pinafore among others. She will be joined by seasoned performers David Kidd, direct from several world tours with The Ten Tenors, and the wonderfully talented composer, arranger and conductor Kevin Hocking.

Helen Donaldson appears in the Ford Theatre at GPAC as part of Musical Mornings 2008 on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 November, at 10.30am each day.

In December, the season’s finale will get you in a festive mood with the Radio Rhythm Orchestra’s A Swinging Christmas, a yuletide extravaganza of swing, jazz, big band and traditional favourites.

Tickets for The Sound of Julie Andrews and A Swinging Christmas are just $15.40 and are available now.

And keep an eye out for Musical Mornings Season One 2009 – details will be announced shortly!
