Performing Solo: structuring a solo performance

Workshop Program - Students

(VCE Drama Unit 4 - Solo Performance)

A two-hour intensive that focuses on ways to make solo performance from prescribed stimuli. Participants will explore the conventions and elements of non-naturalism, use a range of stimuli to create mini-solos, perform, analyse and work specifically on an aspect of their chosen prescribed structure. This an excellent opportunity for students (and teachers) to turn ideas and research into practical, creative theatre.

Meg Upton is an experienced teacher of dance and drama having taught in a range of schools and has lectured in Drama Education at Deakin University. She has an M.Ed in Drama Education, assesses for VCE Drama and Theatre Studies, regularly presents at both Drama Victoria and Drama Australia Conferences. Meg recently
completed eight years in the role of Education Program Manager for the Malthouse Theatre.

Date: 15 July
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
Facilitator: Meg Upton
Suitable for: All students studying Unit 4 VCE Drama
Also suitable for students in years 10 and 11
