Off-beat story of dance and romance in Syncopation
A smash-hit fusion of comedy, drama, romance and ballroom dancing, Syncopation is the next sensational production in GPAC's 2012 Alcoa Theatre Season in partnership with Deakin University.This heart-warming production is choreographed by Dancing with the Stars' Mark Hodge, under the direction of Broadway's Tony Award-nominated Stephen Lloyd Helper.

Children’s classic comes to life on stage for a new generation
Young audiences are invited to enter the fantastic world of Beatrix Potter with Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit, marking 110 years of the popular children's character. Presented as part of GPAC's Family Magic program, this mischievous new musical from the producers of Possum Magic, Wombat Stew and My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch will delight all ages.

Takeover / Act Up

TAKE OVER SENIOR SCHOOL
Take Over Senior School gives students in years 9 - 12 the opportunity to take over the Drama Theatre and learn first hand about theatre making from professional theatre technicians and actors. Students in years 9 to 12 write, direct, act and produce an innovative and original work based on the set theme which runs no longer than 20 minutes in total (including set up and bump out). The work is then performed to their peers and the general public.

ACT UP (formerly 'Take Over Middle School')
PROGRAM OVERVIEW: A Collaboration between Barwon Waste Wise Education and gpac:ed.
Students will utilize the information they have gained from their visit to the Waste Wise Education Centre to create a performance which will be presented in the Drama Theatre at the Geelong Performing Arts centre.
TIMELINE: The program will run across term 2 with the Barwon Waste Wise Education Centre and gpac:ed workshops in April and May and the final performance at GPAC in June.

LIGHTING STATES

All schools will be required to draw upon the set lighting states depicted below, when deciding on your lighting design and cues.

In doing so, you have three options:
Option one - you can layer a state by choosing a Base state, a Special and then an Effect.
Option two - You can use each state individually e.g. the Base state, Mood state, a Special or Effect.
Option three - During the rehearsal, you can alter the intensity of each state to suit your scene.

Also available are Strobe, Smoke and Mirror ball Effects.

Each school should aim for a maximum of 15 - 20 lighting cues for a 20 minute performance

Boy & Bear - It doesn't seem that long ago that the nation was falling in love with one of Boy & Bear's pivotal first singles, 'Mexican Mavis'. Creeping slowly through the national airwaves, discovered by music lovers and settling itself in minds across the country, 'Mexican Mavis' was an accidental statement of intent.

Syncopation - Henry Ribolow is a Jewish meatpacker obsessed with becoming a ballroom dancer and is desperately seeking a dance partner. Anna Bianchi, an Italian Catholic seamstress, is unsatisfied with her life until she spots a curious ad in the paper: “Give your life a lift. Wanted: A dance partner to dance for royalty.”
