Thomas Heywood Christmas Concert

Thomas Heywood, Australia’s favourite organist, is coming to Geelong on 17th December at 8.00 pm to present a celebration for Christmas in a grand fashion, exploring the magnificent Fincham organ at the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels to its limit!  The program of great organ works by the great masters, and some transcriptions of other much loved works, includes such all-time favourites as Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Bach’s Chorale Prelude on In Dulci Jubilo, Adams’ The Holy City, Dubois’ March of the Magi Kings and the great Toccata from Organ Symphony No 5 in F minor by Widor as well as works by Lefebure-Wely, Adam, Corelli, West and Hollins in a collection of Noels, cradle songs and carols.

Born into a Melbourne musical family in 1974, Thomas Heywood was acknowledged as a child prodigy giving his first public performance at five years of age. At sixteen he performed on the Melbourne Town Hall Organ, and made his first major recording on the instrument at 18.

Thomas has dedicated himself to carving out a career as a full-time concert organist. He has performed on thousands of occasions including notable performances at the Sydney Opera House, Windsor Castle and the largest pipe organ in New York City.

Thomas tours annually across the globe and his latest solo tour, “The Wizard from Oz”, saw him perform in a range of Concert Halls, Town Halls, Cathedrals and Churches throughout North America, the UK and Europe.
