Minya by Moonlight Series - Hot 'B' Hines

Since taking spark and igniting at the Halls Gap Jazz Festival some 18 years ago, the Hot ‘B’ Hines Jazz Band has been thrilling audiences throughout Victoria and interstate with its energetic brand of traditional jazz. Sadly for some, the title of the band has little to do with the members physical attributes, rather it emanates from the type of jazz they like to play coupled with the surname of the group’s banjo playing patriarch. As for the ‘B’ well…that’s another story.

With the line up being Ken Collins Trumpet, Barry Currie Reeds,  Herb Jennings Trombone, David Hines Banjo, John Huf Sousaphone/bass and Wally Joosen Drums, the band has the happy mix of a hot front line over a tight driving rhythm section, garnished with a sprinkling of popular vocals, good humour and enthusiasm. This is just the recipe for a highly entertaining slice of traditional jazz.
