GPAC named best presenter at annual conference
Geelong Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) has been named Australia's best venue for touring performances. The centre was presented with the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA) Drover Award for Best Presenter at the association's annual conference in Perth.

Amir Farid completed his Bachelor of Music with Honours at the University of Melbourne in 2004 and then studied at the Australian National Academy of Music from 2003-5. He was the winner of the 2006 Australian National Piano Award. In 2008-9 he undertook a Post-graduate Diploma in Performance at the Royal College of Music, London, graduating with distinction, the highest level awarded by the College.

He has performed as soloist with numerous Australian orchestras including the MSO and MCO and is the pianist with the Benaud Trio which won the prestigious 2005 Australian Chamber Music Competition.

His debut CD Veiled Virtuosity has been released by Move Records. He has been described as 'a highly creative musician - a pianist of great intelligence and integrity.
