Geelong Repertory Theatre Company presents
Doubt
John Patrick Shanly's Pulitzer Prize-winning stage play, Doubt, is set in a New York Catholic school in 1964, a time when the winds of political change are sweeping through the country. A charismatic priest, Father Flynn is trying to overturn the school's strict customs, long guarded by Sister Aloysius who believes in the power of fear and discipline.
When Sister James, a hopeful innocent, shares with Sister Aloysius her suspicion that Father Flynn is paying too much attention to the school's first black student, Sister Aloysius begins a crusade to unearth the truth and remove Flynn from the school. Without a shred of evidence except her moral certainty, Sister Aloysius locks into a battle of wills with Father Flynn, and a battle with devastating consequences ensues.
