GPAC named best presenter at annual conference
Geelong Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) has been named Australia's best venue for touring performances. The centre was presented with the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA) Drover Award for Best Presenter at the association's annual conference in Perth last night (Wednesday August 31).
GPAC general manager Jill Smith said the award was presented for excellence across all areas, including technical service and support, customer service, administrative support, marketing and management support, audience development and community support.
"This is a great accolade for all of the staff and showcases the excellent team work and support GPAC offers customers and the community. It acknowledges the quality and diversity of programming and high standard of service provided by GPAC staff across all areas," Ms Smith said.
"GPAC offers the whole package, and certainly we get great feedback from producers about our passionate audiences, and technical expertise, marketing support and front-of-house services."
The other two nominees in this category were Pilbeam Theatre in Rockhampton and Theatre Royal in Hobart.
In assessing this nomination the panel noted that the venue had a strong, well-defined curatorialprocess, was very collegiate and offered clear communications. They also noted the efficiency of venue staff, and their excellent marketing and technical support.
