GPAC named best presenter at annual conference
Geelong Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) has been named Australia's best venue for touring performances. The centre was presented with the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA) Drover Award for Best Presenter at the association's annual conference in Perth.

Art and community, growth in activity, innovation, outstanding spaces and people - a region renowned for its artistic energy and engagement.

Geelong Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) was built on the enthusiasm and commitment of the Greater Geelong Community with a need for a high quality facility for the benefit of our artists and audiences.

GPAC opened in 1981 with performing arts, functions, events and customer service in mind. With over nine spaces, it boasts two theatres, four conference and event spaces, a restaurant and cafe.

Today it is a well utilised facility providing a wide range of performances and events and the opportunity for participation in the performing arts. The organisation is committed to excellence in all that it does, ensuring an exciting and bright future.

GPAC is one of a group of state owned cultural agencies including Victorian Arts Centre, Museum Victoria, National Gallery of Victoria, State Library of Victoria, Australian Centre for Moving Image and Film Victoria.

GPAC is a Statutory Authority and was established by the Geelong Performing Arts Centre Trust Act 1980 No 9406. The Minister responsible is Hon Lynne Kosky MLA, Minister for the Arts and Public Transport.

GPAC gratefully acknowledges financial assistance from the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria, Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Music In The Gardens 2012 - Hip Cats - The Hip Cats focus on American 50′s rock music culture from grassroots rockabilly to popular 50′s, through to the smoother crossovers of swing and R&B. The band is four piece with guitar, double bass, drums, sax/harmonica, with all the ‘cats’ singing.
